I was raised
around all kinds of animals. Even though we technically lived in
town, it was on the edge of town and we had a little mini farm with
a cat, rabbits, dogs, a bird, crab, etc. My grandparents were still
actively farming and they had a whole array of critters. My family
has firmly believed that animals are God's creatures too and should
be treated with care and dignity.
After my husband and Erick and I got married, we decided to get
a dog. After researching breeds, we decided upon Boxers. Our first
Boxer, Nekoosa was with us only two years and passed away due to
kidney failure. We needed to heal our hearts and decided on getting
another puppy. Our brindle boy Bailey came to live with us and he
is still the apple of our eye. I am very active with Green
Acres Boxer Rescue and do transports, fostering and plan seminars
for our group. I have fostered numerous Boxers and they have taught
me a lot! I have been a GABR board member for the last three years
and am proud to be a part of such a great organization. I am also
involved with the Beaver
Dam Humane Society and own an in-home pet sitting business,
Precious
Pet Care of Beaver Dam.
I don't actively compete with my dogs, but I love working with them.
I believe training is a mutual experience: they teach me as much
as I teach them. Since adopting our second Boxer boy, Bosco, from
GABR in 2003, I have become even more interested in canine training,
health and behavior. I attend seminars throught the year and continue
to expand my canine knowledge. There is so much to learn! I am excited
to put my skills to the test as a trainer for The Dog Den.
