As a good neighbor, The Dog
Den will actively provide support to local pet rescue and non-profit
(must be a 501(c)(3) Not-for-Profit Organization) animal organizations.
Our facility and resources will be able to assist the local community
during natural disaster relief and recovery. Our activities will
open the door for new Madison dog homes and strengthen the bond
in current families. In partnership with our clients we hope to
reduce the number of homeless dogs in our Madison community.
Educational workshops will
be presented on a wide range of topics including, but not limited
to, dog first aide, massage therapy, law and the dog, pet insurance,
basic pet care, puppy training (house training, nipping, etc.),
maintaining the older dog, chiropractic care and nutrition. Workshops
will be offered for $15.00 each with proceeds (after covering direct
costs) contributed to feature dog charities or rescue groups.
The Dog Den looks forward to
helping out it's local dog rescue groups by offering it's resource
center for lease for their meetings, annual get-togethers, fundraisers
and fairs at a reduced rate.
We also realize how difficult
it can be to house multiple dogs, especially if you are operating
a rescue out of your own home. This is why we offer, free of charge,
two daycare spots per day for our homeless doggie friends. These
dogs will undergo the usual canine evaulation. We anticipate our
rescue-dog spots to fill up quickly, and will offer them on a first-come,
first-served basis. Please understand that if you cannot make it
you will need to call at least 24 hours ahead of time, out of courtesy
for the rescue dog that is waiting to come and play.
We also have special rates
for our foster dogs in our group classes. We offer a 50% reduced
rate for all dogs currently in foster. We believe that enrolling
in a group class and learning basic commands and manners will help
your foster become more adoptable. It will also get them out in
the public eye! This is limited to two foster dogs per class.

Once upon a time
there was a wise man who used to go to the ocean to do his writing.
He had a habit of walking on the beach before he began his work. One
day he was walking along the shore. As he looked down the beach, he
saw a human figure moving like a dancer. He smiled to himself to think
of someone who would dance to the day. So he began to walk faster
to catch up. As he got closer, he saw that it was a young man and
the young man wasn't dancing, but instead he was reaching down to
the shore, picking up something and very gently throwing it into the
ocean.
As he got closer he called out, "Good morning What are you doing?"
The young man paused, looked up and replied, "Throwing starfish in
the ocean." "I guess I should have asked, why are you throwing starfish
in the ocean?" "The sun is up and the tide is going out. And if I
don't throw them in they'll die." "But, young man, don't you realize
that there are miles and miles of beach and starfish all along it.
You can't possibly make a difference!" The young man listened politely.
Then bent down, picked another starfish and threw it into the sea,
past the breaking waves and said, "It made a difference for that one." |
