Daycare at The Dog Den

Leaving your dog in someone else’s care is a big decision. At The Dog Den, we take that responsibility seriously.

Our adult daycare is built around the idea that dogs deserve more than constant activity or one-size-fits-all play. We focus on creating a day that supports dogs physically, socially, and emotionally — with well-managed play, real opportunities to rest, and staff who pay close attention to how each dog is actually doing.

Dogs in our program aren’t just part of a group — they’re individuals we get to know over time. That means adjusting how we support them, stepping in when they need help, and making choices with their overall well-being in mind, not just what looks fun in the moment.

Because we prioritize quality of care and stable groups, enrollment is intentionally limited. We’re often full, and when space isn’t available, we use a waitlist so we can bring new dogs into the program thoughtfully and at the right time.

What a Day Looks Like

A day at The Dog Den is intentionally paced. We balance social time with rest, structure with flexibility, and activity with moments to reset.

Dogs spend their day in carefully managed playgroups designed to support healthy interactions. Our team is actively involved — guiding play, reinforcing good choices, and stepping in early when dogs need help navigating social situations. This keeps play enjoyable and prevents things from escalating into stress or overwhelm.

Between play sessions, dogs have time to decompress and rest. Some nap, some quietly observe, and some simply enjoy having space to relax. These breaks aren’t filler — they’re a core part of how we help dogs stay regulated, comfortable, and ready to re-engage when it’s appropriate.

Throughout the day, our focus stays on how each dog is feeling, not just what they’re doing. That awareness allows us to adjust the day as needed, making sure dogs leave feeling settled and supported — not wired or worn down.

 How We Manage Play

Healthy play doesn’t just happen — it’s supported.

At The Dog Den, dogs are grouped with care based on factors like size, play style, social comfort, and energy level. Groups are kept intentionally stable so dogs can build familiarity, confidence, and positive social relationships.

Our team is actively involved throughout the day. We guide interactions, reinforce calm choices, and help dogs practice skills that make social time more successful — like waiting at gates, greeting others politely, and disengaging when play gets too intense. These moments are built into the flow of the day and supported with clear expectations and positive reinforcement.

Play is carefully matched so dogs spend time with friends who suit their style and comfort level. When a dog needs a break, a slower pace, or additional support, we adjust. By stepping in early and thoughtfully, we help play stay enjoyable, safe, and emotionally comfortable for everyone involved.

 Rest Is Part of Care

Time to slow down is just as important as time to play.

At The Dog Den, dogs have regular opportunities throughout the day to rest, decompress, and reset. These breaks help dogs process social interactions, recover from excitement, and stay emotionally comfortable.

We don’t push dogs to stay active when they’re showing signs of fatigue or stress. Encouraging rest helps dogs make better choices during play and supports a calmer, safer group overall.

A well-rested dog isn’t missing out — they’re being supported.

Enrichment & Extras

Great daycare starts with skilled supervision, healthy play, and appropriate rest. Everything else is optional.

For dogs who enjoy additional mental challenges or one-on-one engagement, we offer a variety of optional add-ons. These may include food-based activities, scent work, creative projects like art days, and individual training sessions. Each option is designed to be enjoyable and low-pressure, with the dog’s comfort and interest guiding participation.

Add-ons are never required for a dog to have a good day here. We’ll always prioritize what supports your dog’s overall well-being, and we’re happy to help you decide whether extra activities are a good fit for your dog.

Is This the Right Fit?

Our adult daycare works best for dogs who enjoy social time and benefit from structure, guidance, and breaks throughout the day. Many of the dogs who thrive here are friendly, curious, and do best when play is supported rather than left to unfold on its own.

We may not be the right fit for dogs who are overwhelmed by group settings, prefer constant high-intensity play, or struggle to recover after excitement. Because we prioritize stable groups and thoughtful supervision, we’re careful about enrollment and take the time to make sure each dog is set up for success.

Our goal isn’t to be the right place for every dog — it’s to be the right place for the dogs we can truly support.

Getting Started

If The Dog Den feels like the right fit for you and your dog, the next step is to reach out and start a conversation.

Because we intentionally limit enrollment to maintain the level of care we believe dogs deserve, availability can be limited. When space isn’t immediately available, we offer a waitlist so we can bring new dogs into the program thoughtfully and at the right time.

We’re always happy to answer questions, talk through your dog’s needs, and help you understand whether our adult daycare is a good match — now or in the future.
