🐾 Laura Schorrak 🐾
Owner & Lead Visionary, The Dog Den & The Puppy Den
B.S., LFDM, PST-CI, CPACO, CPACM, CPACP, Fear Free Certified
Laura Schorrak brings over 20 years of experience in canine care, behavior, and training to her role as the owner of The Dog Den. With a Bachelor of Science degree from UW–Madison in Bacteriology and Zoology—with a special focus on animal-human interaction—Laura has combined her love of science with a passion for helping dogs and their people thrive together.
Her approach to training is rooted in understanding. Laura believes that dogs don’t come pre-wired for the human world—it’s up to us to teach them how to succeed in it. She views behavior challenges not as isolated “problems” but as reflections of a dog’s environment, genetics, and unique personality.
Laura’s experience spans everything from puppy development to senior dog enrichment. She’s especially passionate about creating individualized programs that support dogs through every life stage. Beyond the dogs, she mentors rising leaders in the industry and builds programs that shape a better, more compassionate canine care culture.
At The Dog Den, Laura is hands-on both with dogs and behind the scenes—splitting time between enriching senior pups in daycare (her personal favorites) and managing operations, team leadership, and program development.
Her heart belongs to her three current pups:
Karl, a sensitive chocolate Lab who loves deeply but cautiously,
Bourbon, the snack-loving, upside-down Lab with a big personality, and
Gertie, a clumsy cattle dog–Doberman–Lab mix who brings endless laughs.
Laura also carries the legacy of her past heart dogs—Kelly, Kutter, and Kagney—each of whom shaped her journey and inspired her mission. Their stories live on through her writing and work (read more, here).
When she’s not at The Dog Den or expanding her education in the latest behavior science, you might find her singing along to a Broadway soundtrack—her love of musical theater is second only to her love of dogs. Laura also proudly serves as a board member for Czar’s Promise, continuing her dedication to pets and their people.
